IPL hair removal

Knowledge about IPL Treatment

IPL, short for intense pulsed light, is a popular treatment that is best-known for its ability to effective hair removal, treat vascular conditions like broken capillaries ("spider veins") and the brown spots or "age spots" caused by sun damage. IPL also stimulates the production of collagen, which plumps up the skin and gives you a fresher look, and refines or tightens large pores.

The ideal candidate for IPL is someone with light skin who has sun damage, broken capillaries, and some laxity or lack of firmness, and wants to treat all three conditions at the same time. IPL is sometimes referred to as a photo facial. IPL is not the same as a laser treatment.

IPL treatment

The hair removal procedure itself is very straightforward. You’ll lie on a couch or bed and make yourself comfortable. As a safety measure, you’ll be asked to wear some eye protection, which the nurse will also wear. The laser-trained nurse runs the small handheld unit, slowly over the specified area. You might feel a slight burning and tingling sensation. Sometimes the skin swells or reddens slightly, depending on which part of your body is being treated.
Afterwards we’ll apply cooling packs to the area to minimize any discomfort. Treatment times vary depending on the person and the area being treated. Depending on what treatment you’re having, the procedure can be as brief as ten minutes.
